One system of things for every team
The Thing idea is how ML2 Consulting designs business software: each customer gets one system of their own, and every app their teams need plugs into it. People, departments and data are set up once and shared, instead of each team buying a separate product that never talks to the others. If teams need a thing, we have it.
A system of things
Your system holds what every app needs to know: your company, your people, their departments and roles, and who is licensed for what. Add an app and it already knows all of that. Take one away and nothing else breaks.
The apps are the things: payroll and HR, warehouse, incidents, customers, reporting and freight. Each team uses the ones it needs.
- One sign-in
- One admin console
- People, departments and roles
- Licences per person, per app
- Standard field names

Fast Forward
Four ideas, kept everywhere
- One sign-inOne account for every app, with an emailed code and two-factor authentication. Nobody keeps six passwords.
- One admin consolePeople, departments, roles, licences and connections managed in one place, by your own admins.
- One set of standard field namesEvery app names its data from one dictionary, and a name is never changed once it's in use, so reports and connections don't break.
- Apps that talk to each otherThe same person, customer and department in every app, so information moves without anyone copying it across.
What it means on a normal day
Examples of the apps working as one system.
- A near miss reported in RIMS already knows the person's department from onPAHR.
- A complaint in CREAM links to the incident behind it, and both sit on the customer's timeline.
- Pallets moved in W? become storage charges on the same customer, without a spreadsheet.
- The Monday director pack from CROSS puts people, stock, incidents and customers side by side, because the field names match.
Your existing systems stay
Most businesses already have payroll, accounts or a CRM they rely on. A Thing.team system is designed to sit alongside them.
- Connect, don't replace. Bring data in from the systems you already use, by database, API, EDI or file.
- Mapped once. Your field names are matched to the standard names once, in the admin console.
- Checked before it's trusted. Incoming data is held, cleaned and checked before it's written into your system or sent back out.
